Remarkable achievements of the Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charitable Foundation during 2016

The Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charitable Foundation has achieved remarkable achievements in various charitable and humanitarian fields inside and outside the State of Qatar, including providing assistance to needy families, improving poor communities, and providing a helping hand and assistance to those in need in a number of countries.

The year 2016 was a year full of achievements for the Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charitable Foundation. Where many development projects were implemented, Many partnership agreements were concluded with several governmental and non-governmental bodies. Based on the fact that it is part of Qatari society and aims to advance it and meet the needs of citizens and residents alike, To achieve this, it harnessed all its human and technical resources and capabilities. In order to achieve the institution’s basic mission and contribute to achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030.

With regard to local activities, The Foundation spent more than 50 million Qatari riyals on various activities and assistance that benefited about 700 people. It included financial and in-kind assistance, including monthly guarantees, repaying Garmin debts, covering medical expenses, constructing educational buildings, and supporting educational campaigns. In addition to cultural and educational activities, such as its sponsorship of a number of conferences and seminars, support of local activities, and partnerships with various institutions and associations, in addition to Ramadan projects.

The financial aid, which includes monthly guarantees and Garmin assistance, amounted to about 15 million riyals. About 20,000 beneficiaries benefited from the guarantees, while health and treatment aid amounted to about 1,500,000 riyals, and about 1,000 beneficiaries benefited from it. While the value of educational, rehabilitation and training assistance amounted to about 9 million riyals, benefiting 25 thousand people.

The Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charitable Foundation participated in implementing many cultural activities in the country, where about 20,000 beneficiaries benefited from these activities, at a total cost of 8 million riyals. While the total amount spent by the Foundation in the field of social responsibility amounted to about 5 million and 500 thousand riyals, and about 30 thousand beneficiaries benefited from the activity in this field. As for the seasonal projects, 600 thousand people benefited from them and cost the Foundation about 17 million and 700 thousand riyals.

During this year, In its work, the Foundation focused on creating opportunities for partnerships and cooperation with relevant authorities and coordination with a number of local partners from official agencies, ministries and agencies. Since its establishment, the Foundation has continued to support and sponsor community initiatives and activities. The Foundation provided support to the Mental Health Association “Weyak” to provide psychological support to recipients of psychological services. And support the Qatari Association for People with Special Needs, In addition to the support it provided to the Qatar Diabetes Association, The Qatari Nursing Association sponsored the Young Nurse Program.

With regard to external activities, The Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charitable Foundation focuses its attention on the fields of health and education. It implements projects to provide opportunities to improve the lives of thousands of people and focuses primarily on human development and enabling communities to live productive and effective lives.

In this context, The Foundation implements a number of development projects in the continents of Asia and Africa at a cost estimated at 250 million Qatari riyals. To benefit more than 2 million Muslim people in a number of countries, including: India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Comoros, Tajikistan, Morocco, Mauritania, Thailand and other countries.

These projects included building hospitals, vocational training centers, housing units, mosques, and projects to provide drinking water. In addition to its contributions to supporting some projects in the medical, educational and humanitarian fields.

In the Comoros, Work is currently underway to implement the “Sheikh Jassim Hospital” project on Anjouan Island, with the aim of providing integrated health care with high efficiency for the poor in, In addition to raising the level of health services. The Foundation estimated the number of beneficiaries of this project at approximately 800,000 residents of the three islands (Grande Comore, Anjouan, (Moheli) and the total cost of the project is more than 100 million Qatari riyals. The hospital project is considered a reference specialized health project that provides integrated health services to the citizens of the Republic of the Comoros and will be the largest of its kind in the Republic.

The Foundation is also currently working on completing the “Sheikh Jassim Model City” project in Mannar Governorate, Sri Lanka, with an estimated cost of 45 million riyals. To benefit 20,000 people, it included the construction of 446 housing units as a first phase and 556 housing units as a second phase.

In India, the Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Institute for Vocational (Industrial) Training project was completed in the city of Dabul in northern India. Its cost amounted to 3 million Qatari riyals and about 500 thousand people benefited from it. The project aims to enable the poor to obtain specialized technical education opportunities.

Also during this year, the Foundation began implementing Sheikh Jassim Hospital in the Punjab province of Pakistan. The project includes the construction of a 50-bed hospital in accordance with World Health Organization standards. The project, which cost 25 million Qatari riyals, will benefit 300,000 people. The Foundation also began implementing development projects in the fields of health and education in Morocco, including building a local hospital with a capacity of (45) beds in the Sidi Youssef Ben Ali area of Marrakesh at a cost estimated at 50 million Qatari riyals. Establishing a number of health centers, supporting maternal and child care, and dialysis centers. In addition to establishing a number of vocational and craft training centers to empower youth, In addition to supporting existing centers, Establishing a number of schools at different stages, A housing project that includes about 200 housing units. In addition to rehabilitating one of the mosques in the region to become a mosque.

In addition, the Foundation has begun the first stages related to approvals and ratifications for the implementation of a number of projects in the coming period, such as the project to extend potable water networks in the village of Nurabad in Tajikistan. It will also build schools for boys and girls in the Punjab province of Pakistan. In addition to a daily care center in Gaza in cooperation with the Gaza Reconstruction Committee, In addition to the project to build an orphanage in Tanzania.
